Our entrepreneurial team, which is joined by Oana Driha (CFO), is composed of Fernando Alfaya (CEO), Joaquín Silvestre (CIO) and Andrés Fullana (COO)We combine scientific expertise and business vision to lead the transition toward a circular economy in the fruit and vegetable sector.

Graduate in Biology from the University of Alicante and Graduate in Environmental Sciences from Miguel Hernández University.

He has over twenty years of experience in the fruit and vegetable sector, both in industry and as a researcher. Initially, he worked professionally in the fields of Environmental Agrochemistry (Miguel Hernández University) and Anaerobic Digestion of Wastewater (WUR, Wageningen, Netherlands), where he gained expertise in soil science and biological reactors for water purification. 

She subsequently worked in the fruit and vegetable sector, first at HACIENDAS BIO as part of the Quality Department, where she became familiar with field work and production, as well as with product quality methods and certifications, and subsequently, for a period of ten years at BARGOSA in the Purchasing Department as Head of Product Development and Claims, and in the Commercial Department (as Head of Marketing and Communications). 

Some of the functions developed during this period have included supplier evaluation, product improvement, brand and packaging format development, and event management. 

As a complementary training, Fernando holds a degree in Post-Harvest Technology Specialist and has completed numerous training courses related to business management.

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante and leader of the Advanced Materials Laboratory there.

Joaquín has over twenty years of research experience in the field of nanomaterials applied to industrial processes, which has resulted in more than 200 published scientific articles, placing him among the 2% most cited scientific authors in the world. 

He is also an international reference for his work on activated carbons, publishing in journals such as Nature and working on projects for NATO and the EU. He is also the co-inventor of three patents and the HHT process that led to the origin of this project. 

In 2023, he received the Importantes 2023 Award, an accolade recognizing his career, talent, and dedication in the scientific field. 

It's also worth noting that Joaquín was a finalist for the "Falling Walls 2023" awards for "European Scientific Breakthrough of the Year," the only Spanish award in the Physical Sciences category.

Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alicante (PhD in Chemical Engineering Cum Laude in 2001) and director of the research group "Engineering for the Circular Economy" (E4EC) at the same institution.

His research focuses on solving problems related to waste management and treatment: the use of iron nanoparticles in water treatment, energy utilization of agricultural waste, recycling of industrial waste, odor elimination, and plastic recycling. 

Andrés has over 20 years of research experience, has led more than 50 R&D projects with companies whose research has resulted in 10 patents, 5 of which are being marketed internationally, and is co-author, along with Joaquín, of the trade secret that gave rise to this project. He has also participated in the development and launch of several technology-based companies.

He has over ten years of research experience in the fields of sustainable development, environmental economics, energy transition policies, and innovation. He has focused his work on the analysis of economic growth with a clear focus on greater sustainability and environmental stewardship, collaborating with universities and international institutions.

He has led numerous knowledge transfer projects focused on the green transition, digital transition, sustainable development, the economic impact of intellectual property, and the circular economy. Among these, the MULTITRACES project stands out, aimed at promoting the resilience of food systems through solutions based on the circular bioeconomy. 

This project was key to the creation of OMIX Circular Technologies, serving as the basis for the development of the company's fruit and vegetable waste recovery model.

At OMIX, she brings a solid academic and strategic perspective to the integration of applied scientific solutions, contributing to the design and evaluation of circular technologies with positive environmental, economic, and social impacts. She is also responsible for the company's Equality Plan and for defining its business strategy from a global perspective, aligning OMIX's actions with the principles of equity, sustainability, and international outreach.
